North-west restaurant group New Moon Co is to add a seventh site to its growing portfolio after securing its first venue in Liverpool.

The company has agreed a lease on The Old Blind School building, an iconic grade-2 listed property that will be fully renovated and converted into a 200+ cover restaurant.

Co-owner David Mooney and business partner Paul Newman are targeting a May opening for restaurant, which will be called ‘The Old Blind School’.

The venue will be spread over two floors and modelled on the company’s successful Old Sessions House restaurant at Knutsford.

A state-of-the-art kitchen build is planned for the property over the coming months.

Newman, formerly a founder member and director with Living Ventures, commented: “We have been looking for the right site in Liverpool now for a while and it has always been our intention to be in this fabulous city.”

Mooney added: “We are buzzing and can’t wait to start work on the building. We have already given much thought to our menus, we just can’t wait to get the dishes on the tables.”
