Catering equipment supplier Nisbets has broken into the Scottish market by opening its first retail outlet north of the border.
The company has secured a site on Glasgow’s Glassford Street, a 10-minute walk from Princess Square shopping centre, which will target caterers and chefs working in the city.
The store opened its doors to restaurant owners and the public at 9am this morning, marking the latest milestone in Nisbets’ retail growth programme.
The Glasgow store spans two floors covering 5,500 square feet and will stock more than 3,000 items of catering equipment, from chef knives and clothing to furniture and machines.
Nisbets said the branch is headed by store manager Natalie McKenna and supervisor Diane Swan, who oversee a dedicated shop floor team.
Nisbets launched as a catalogue only business in 1983, but has since grown to develop a strong online presence in addition to a portfolio of retail stores in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Brighton, Nottingham, Cardiff and Exeter.
Next Monday the firm will open a retail outlet in Southampton, taking the number of stores it runs to 14. Half of those have opened in the past 12 months, underscoring the investment it has made in this side of its business during the past year.
