Hospitality operators will soon be pointed to a range of energy efficient catering equipment that will be included in the newly-expanded Energy Technology List, after manufacturers were provided with the criteria that will determine which products are given the stamp of approval to make the list.
The much-anticipated guidance gives manufacturers of commercial ovens and warewashers a definitive set of standards that their products must meet to gain entry to the list, and intends to help operators cut running costs at such a pivotal time for the industry.
The introduction of a Professional Foodservice Equipment (PFSE) category to the ETL has been labelled an important step for the sector as it is the first energy efficiency product performance benchmark the UK foodservice industry has seen.
“Amid the news of rocketing energy costs, the need for energy efficient equipment has grown,” the ETL states on its website.
“We want to help procurers lower their running costs, while helping manufacturers obtain the independent energy performance verification they need for their products.”
