British fire and stone oven manufacturer Gozney has raised £500,000 in crowdfunding – hitting its target within just two hours of launching the campaign.

It plans to use the investment to accelerate its expansion into key overseas territories and diversify its commercial offering by creating innovative consumer products.

The company said its campaign on Crowdcube.com has created a stir amongst investors who have been impressed by the team’s passion and expertise, plans for innovative new products and its readiness for international expansion.

Gozney’s international growth has more than doubled in the past two years and it is aiming to expand quickly into additional markets.

Since its 2011 inception by founder Tom Gozney, the firm has built a reputation as a strong supplier of premium restaurant pizza ovens.

The brand is a trusted partner of some of the most notable names in the industry, including Franco Manca, Pizza Pilgrims and Homeslice.

Its products are also enjoyed by names such as Jean Christophe Novelli, Paul Hollywood and Richard Branson.

The company’s growth was fuelled by the 2016 launch of Roccbox, the world’s first portable fire and stone oven, bringing true Neapolitan style pizza to the masses in the comfort of their own gardens across the UK, Europe, US, Canada and Australia.

Mr Gozney said: “We’re delighted by the response to our crowdfunding campaign. The fact that every single investor understands and supports our vision for Gozney is very special and we’re incredibly thankful for their support.

“The team was confident that we’d come close to reaching our funding target, but the speed in which it was achieved has been something else. We’re excited to be able to deliver the brand’s next stage of growth and reward the trust has been bestowed upon us.”

The campaign is set to run until Wednesday 10 July at midnight.
