Panasonic gains second product approval with the Craft Guild of Chefs

Panasonic NE-1878

Panasonic’s latest professional microwave, the NE-1878, has been given ‘approved product’ status by the Craft Guild of Chefs following testing as part of its Product Endorsement Scheme.

The all-metal door was as much a hit with the chefs that tested it, as was the inverter technology, as well as its decreased weight and energy saving capabilities; in trials, the NE-1878 has shown to be more energy efficient, by up to 6%*.

One of the benefits of having an all metal door – aside from being able to locate it front of house – is in the ease of cleaning and effect that has on the lifespan of the oven. The inside of the metal door has no ridges, seals or film to clean around, it’s totally smooth, and the chefs recognised this as being a major improvement on any other microwave on the market.

Inverter technology enables faster, more even, gentler cooking, is better for defrosting, and uses less energy. All traditional microwaves work using a transformer, sending out a single level of power in small bursts to cook food.

When set at 60% power, the microwave energy will be on full power for 60% of the time, and idle 40% of the time, for the duration of the time selected. A microwave that uses an inverter will deliver an accurate power level so when you select 60% power, the oven delivers 60% power for the entire duration of the cooking time chosen. This applies no matter what power level is selected giving you better, more even cooking results. And like all Panasonic microwaves, the NE-1878 also features top and bottom magnetrons, with one inverter per magnetron, for the ultimate in even cooking.

The NE-1878 is also lighter, by a whopping 12kg, compared to its predecessor, the Panasonic NE-1853, which lowers shipping costs and all the chefs that tested it acknowledged the advantages of it being more portable and easier to move around for cleaning. In addition, the NE-1878 comes with a spare ceiling plate so an operation will not be hindered when cleaning.

Iain Phillips, sales and marketing manager, Panasonic UK Ltd, said: “We are delighted to have received this second product endorsement from the Craft Guild of Chefs; it confirms the work that we do, bringing to market world firsts, such as the NE-1878, are valued by the industry. We are also delighted to once again receive confirmation that chefs recognise that paying slightly more for equipment with a better build quality results in greater value for money in the long run.”
