PizzaExpress and Barburrito have left their existing food delivery services to work with Deliveroo on an exclusive basis.
The move is a major coup for the fast-growing delivery firm, which has also just extended exclusive agreements that it has with Wagamama and Azzuri Group, owner of the ASK Italian and Zizzi brands.
Of the largest 40 casual dining and fast food chains in the UK, over 90% are available on Deliveroo and half of those are exclusive to the food delivery platform.
PizzaExpress, in partnership with Deliveroo, currently serves nearly 25,000 pizzas every week to customers at home and sees significant potential to grow this channel. The company says that it has already invested in better packaging and kitchen equipment in order to improve customer experience and ensure diners can obtain restaurant-quality food at home.
Zoe Bowley, managing director at PizzaExpress, said: “Customers are increasingly opting to enjoy their favourite PizzaExpress pizza at home, and by exclusively partnering with Deliveroo it means that we can serve more customers, more often. We will continue to work closely with Deliveroo in order to give our customers a great delivery experience.”
Deliveroo this week announced a further increase in the selection of popular restaurants and takeaways available on the platform in the UK, revealing it works with 17,000 restaurants and takeaways across the UK.
Earlier this year it was announced as the fastest growing company in Europe and the company’s accounts for the last year revealed a 116% increase in revenues.
