Operating under a unified department since its acquisition of the Spirit Pub Company, Greene King’s food development team has risen to the challenge of constructing award-winning pub menus and the functional kitchen designs needed to deliver them.
Food development innovation manager Carl Newey is a key member of the highly talented team of food development and product innovation managers that operate out of Greene King’s development kitchen in Staffordshire, shaping the future of the chain’s sprawling pub estate, which now numbers 3,000 sites.
Carl, who previously worked as a catering specification and menu development executive at Spirit, is tasked with providing the business with products, dishes, catering equipment and non-consumables that position it as a leading innovator in its field.
One of the notable success stories to come out of Greene King’s development hub this year is the expanded food service it now offers tenanted and leased pubs within its estate.
The service, which has already been taken up by around 150 sites this year, provides licensees with a ready-to-go food offer complete with easy-to-execute menus, ingredients and technical support.
