POWER LIST 2019, CHAIN CHAMPIONS: Clare Chinn, Head of Estates Support, Marston’s

Vikings Landing

A focus on speeding up customer service times, reducing fridge to table times and refining consistency over multiple sites has seen some notable work undertaken by Marston’s in the past year, fostering a culture where looking at kitchen tasks and processes in an innovative way to affect progressive change is encouraged.

Given its legacy as a classic brewery, the company has successfully developed a food-led offer that is driven by ongoing investment in energy efficient catering equipment and the right chefs’ tools.

But as any large-scale pub operator will tell you, that only means something if you’ve got the right level of support to back it up, which is exactly where Clare Chinn comes in.

As head of estates support, she is the pivotal person within Marston’s responsible for maintaining its growing network of kitchens.

Quite simply, if Clare can’t make it happen, it doesn’t happen!

Her role entails the maintenance of all Marston’s kitchens and the contractor involvement that goes with it, including responsibility for the replacement of condemned kit.

She has built water-tight relationships with all of the company’s suppliers and mastered the art of juggling many different tasks at one time to ensure problems are resolved as quickly as possible.

As the main contact dealing with all of the reactive maintenance calls for 1,100 kitchens, she holds the key to keeping kitchen downtime to a minimum.
