POWER LIST 2019, MARKET MOVERS: Josh Brown, Head of Commercial Development, Harris + Hoole

Harris + Hoole

Specialist coffee chain Harris + Hoole has endured one of the more intriguing corporate journeys that the industry has witnessed in the last decade.

It started life as an independent coffee shop group prior, fell into the clutches of supermarket giant Tesco and was then sold to high street coffee chain Caffe Nero three years ago.

Head of commercial development, Josh Brown, has been with the company through much of this transition, playing a part in everything from drinks and design to store layout and coffee innovation.

Despite the ownership changes, the brand has stayed true to the values that first brought it to the attention of the market heavyweights, augmenting its quality coffee offering with a wide range of food to appeal to its core breakfast and lunchtime trade.

Josh has been involved in the evolution of the brand’s store set-up as it has sought to optimise space by creating different zones to attract the various customer groups that come in to satisfy their thirst.

A laser-like focus on seasonal menu changes is vital for any high street chain these days and Harris + Hoole continues to rise to that challenge with a constantly evolving F&B offer that has won praise from customers.

With the best part of 40 sites in operation now, the company finally appears to have found a settled home within the Caffe Nero family.
