Primark to capitalise on catering with launch of new café concept in Glasgow

Braehead Shopping Centre, Glasgow

Primark is to venture further into the F&B market with the launch of its second café concept in its store in Glasgow.

The retail giant has opened a new in-store café at the Braehead Shopping Centre with Mitie’s specialist catering business, Gather & Gather, marking the launch of a second café within a Primark store to come from the partnership.

The Primarket Café has a menu comprising more than 70 items offering customers a range of hot and cold snacks from pitta pizzas, toasties and breakfast baps, to waffles, vegan traybakes and rainbow cake.

There will be no plastic straws on site and only compostable coffee cups used, with Gather & Gather’s own specialty blend of coffee, Camino, which uses only sustainably sourced beans, also on offer.

This is the second café that Gather & Gather has opened in a Primark store, following the launch of the Central Perk Café at Primark Manchester in June.

This builds on the long-standing relationship between the companies, with Gather & Gather having managed catering at Primark’s offices in Reading and Dublin for the past four years.

Allister Richards, managing director, Gather & Gather, said: “Following the recent launch of the Central Perk Café at Primark Manchester, it’s a pleasure to once again be collaborating on a new café for Primark customers to enjoy. We’re proud that Primark share our passion for sustainability and we look forward to expanding our partnership.”

Launched in April 2013, Gather & Gather is part of the Mitie Group plc and offers restaurant, café, hospitality and event services to a range of clients across a broad spectrum of sectors including media, technology, legal, financial services and retail.
