Rational shores up support for its biggest UK customers

Graeme Copeland, key accounts director

Chain users of Rational ovens will have a new point of contact to support them in the UK after the company today unveiled Graeme Copeland as its key accounts director.

The combi oven brand, which purports to command a 60% share of the UK market, said the new position further enhances its support for key account customers. Copeland’s responsibilities also extend to the Frima brand.

He is well-versed in the challenges facing chain operations, having worked on both the supplier and operator side of the market during his long career in the industry.

“I have over 25 years experience within the hospitality and leisure industries, including Whitbread, Green King and First Leisure Corporation,” he explained. “My main responsibilities at Hobart as sales and marketing manager was overseeing a team of account managers, national accounts and the oversall sales for the service division.“

Copeland will work alongside Lee Harding, key accounts director UK and Ireland, who has held this position at Rational for a year.

Simon Lohse, managing director of Rational UK, commented: “Graeme is a great addition for our UK team. With a wealth of experience, including six years at Hobart UK Service, he will provide support and continue to build on relationships with our key account customers.”

Rational made sales of £50.4m in the UK during its last financial year, with profits of £1.7m, even though it saw a downturn in public sector orders, where it is traditionally strong. Private sector sales grew strongly. The UK is one of Rational’s largest trading markets outside of Germany.
