Restaurant Associates is trialling an innovative new allergen system that could simplify the challenge of mass catering for customers.
The company, which is part of the Compass Group, is working with the Wellcome Collection – a science, medicine and art museum in central London – to introduce the TASnow system.
It offers Wellcome the ability to manage allergen information at the touch of a button at its conference centre.
More than 20% of the UK population is affected by one or more allergic disorders and this interactive touchscreen allows delegates to browse menu items and discover more about each dish, including all-important allergy information, ensuring an easy, informed experience for guests at the tap of a button.
Delegates will be able to view allergen guides on the digital screen and download menus to their phone via a QR code, meaning all the allergen information is readily available to them without having to ask and ensuring that the food they choose meets their dietary requirements.

“According to research, 60% of consumers believe the ability to view up-to-date and accurate allergen information is an important part of their dining experience and we believe that conferences and events should be no different. We hope that the use of these screens will help give further confidence and reassurance to delegates when they are attending events at Wellcome Collection.”
