A trio of operations managers from multi-site pub and restaurant businesses have been named the industry champions of their field at a special awards ceremony hosted last night.

The Operations Managers Awards, run by the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR), is the only awards of its kind in the eating and drinking out sector.

Finalists must undergo a rigorous judging process that lasts seven months, culminating in a weekend-long Masterclass that tests their enthusiasm, dynamism and business acumen.

Yvonne Fraser from Greene King Pub Partners was named business development manager of the year, YO! Suhsi’s Emma Deabill won area manager of the year and Adam Sykes of Fuller, Smith & Turner was crowned rising star of the year.

ALMR chief executive Kate Nicholls said the competition was particularly fierce this year. “The sector is full of enterprising and talented individuals driving innovation across the sector and this competition does a great job spotlighting that talent,” she said.

ALMR Operations Awards founder Nick Bish said: “Each year the awards process seeks to reveal, prove and celebrate those individuals at the cutting edge of licensed hospitality. All of these men and women play a crucial role in the continuing success of the dynamic and exciting licensed retail hospitality sector.”
