Marston’s this morning confirmed that Robin Rowland will step down from the board as a non-executive director at the end of this week.

Mr Rowland, best known as the former CEO of YO! Sushi and now an operating partner at private equity firm TriSpan, has spent nine years in a non-exec position with the pub group.

The company’s board of directors placed on record their thanks for his contribution during his time with the business.

Chairman William Rucker said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Robin Rowland for his contribution over his nine year tenure as a non-executive director of Marston’s. His passion, energy and experience of the wider eating out market has been hugely beneficial during his time.”

Mr Rowland’s departure coincides with Marston’s shaking up its non-exec board to bring on two new members.

Bridget Lea, currently managing director (north) at Sainsbury, will join from 1 September and Octavia Morley, executive chair of Spicers-Office Team Group, will join from 1 January 2020.

Both individuals bring vast experience in the retail sector, which Marston’s believes will be invaluable as it looks to build on its growth.

Mr Rucker said: “I am delighted to welcome both Bridget and Octavia to Marston’s. They are extremely high calibre additions to the board and bring with them extensive experience of a wide range of leading consumer retail businesses which is highly relevant to Marston’s pub retailing and brewing operations. Their respective skillsets and insight will be of great value to the Group and we look forward to working with them.
