Smeg has upped the standard warranty on all its commercial products to two years.
From this month, its full range of professional glass and dishwashers will be covered by the extended terms.
Commercial channel director, Phil Coulstock, explained: “This has come about for a number of reasons, but mainly because we feel the reliability and knowledge we have on the products is now more than sufficient to support them for the additional year and also to meet the demand of both end-users and our distributors, who told us they wanted the ability to match some of our competitors.”
Smeg Foodservice production began in 2008, supported by a dedicated UK business in 2014.
The company, which is based in Oxfordshire, has continued to grow year-on-year since while investing in its operations.
Smeg is supporting the new warranty terms with a revamped preventative maintenance policy that will see its own engineers visit participating sites every 12 to 24 months to health-check machines.
This will allow distributors to quote on work or parts required to restore the machine to full health, or for Smeg to pass on any issues to the user to decide on future action.
“The report will flag green markers on components in good health; amber – anything showing signs of wear; and red – anything that needs immediate action, such as filters or components not covered by warranty,” said Coulstock. “Red markers could also be items covered and replaced under warranty depending on full or parts-only warranty.”
