Subway sings Merrychef’s praises for equipping its kitchens

Subway has praised the impact of Merrychef ovens on its European business, naming the brand its equipment partner of the year.

The Welbilt-owned company – which makes the ovens in Sheffield – collected the ‘Equipment and Décor Partner of the Year’ accolade at Subway’s recent European Supplier Partner Conference in Wales.

The conference is hosted by IPC Europe, which serves as the buying and procurement organisation for Subway franchisees.

The award is judged across different criteria including innovative equipment solutions, culinary support, ability to provide high service levels across multiple markets to maximise output, and service finance packages to provide cost certainty.

Colin Lacey, managing director of Merrychef, said: “Merrychef is delighted to have been awarded the prestigious ‘Equipment and Décor Partner of the Year’ by Subway and IPC Europe.

“Our cutting-edge designs, technology and innovative product developments are qualities that we take huge pride in and to be recognised by such prestigious groups is a credit to how the Merrychef brand continues to evolve and cater for the specific needs of our customers.”

Mr Lacey said that Merrychef products allow the quick service restaurant brand to produce consistent toasted hot subs and high quality sandwiches in rapid time, while the easyTouch icon-driven interface means it is simple for staff to use.

Subway operates more than 2,500 branches in the UK.
