Ex-Spirit Pub boss to advise The Restaurant Group

The Restaurant Group (TRG) has announced the appointment of Mike Tye as a non-executive director and chairman of the remuneration committee and said he will join the board on 4 April 2016.

Tye has extensive experience of the leisure and hospitality sector and until recently was the CEO of Spirit Pub Company, where he led its successful establishment as a public company following the demerger from Punch Taverns.

He was a director of Punch Taverns until August 2011. Prior to that he held a variety of MD roles in Whitbread, including boss of David Lloyd Leisure, Premier Inn and Costa Coffee.

In line with best practice, Tony Hughes, senior independent director and chairman of the remuneration committee since 2008, will be retiring from the board following the Company’s AGM on 12 May 2016.

“The board wishes to thank Tony for his contribution during his tenure. Simon Cloke, non-executive director, will be appointed senior independent director,” stated TRG.

A process is underway to recruit one further non-executive director, to chair the audit committee.

The Restaurant Group plc operates over 500 restaurants and pub restaurants throughout the UK. Its principal trading brands are Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Coast to Coast, a Pub restaurant business and a Concessions business which trades principally in major UK airports.
