POWER LIST 2016, CHAIN CHAMPIONS: Tracey Matthews, Chief Operating Officer, Gaucho Group

Gaucho Group

A boardroom reshuffle at casual dining specialist Gaucho Group has deservedly led to Tracey Matthews taking on new responsibilities at the company following her success as managing director of the Gaucho brand.

In her new post, she has an expanded role that also encompasses sister business CAU and will work closely with the senior management team to drive both concepts in the UK. tracey-matthews-person

The first Gaucho restaurant in the UK opened 22 years ago, and the company now operates 14 premium restaurants under the brand, with more to follow in 2017. Consistency is held up as the key to the chain’s success, with the emphasis on serving excellent food with strong Argentine provenance, well-designed interiors and the highest level of service.

Having contributed to Gaucho’s growth, Tracey will be drawing on her expertise to ensure the expansive midmarket CAU brand exceeds its targets. Its 18 UK restaurants are designed to fill a gap in the high street for a high quality but casual dining experience that can suit any occasion and any pocket.

Tracey can certainly call on the best in the business for advice after industry legend Luke Johnson recently became non-executive chairman and a shareholder in the firm.
