UK catering equipment maker bought out by global giant

A UK manufacturer of food storage and display equipment has been sold to a global supplier of consumer resin products.

Stewart Plastics, which is based in Oxfordshire, will now trade as part of the Keter Group following a takeover inked before Easter.

Keter Group offers a broad portfolio of quality resin consumer products across sheds and storage boxes, furniture, tool and hardware storage and home solutions. Stewart also has Homewares and Gardening divisions, which offer the strongest fit with its new parent’s business.

However, the deal also gives Keter access to a substantial commercial catering equipment portfolio.

Stewart’s catering division comprises a wide selection of food storage and preparation, serving and display products for the catering industry, including the Gastronorm and Sealfresh collections.

Andy Burns, managing director of Stewart, said the deal creates significant growth opportunities for the business.

“Together, we have the capability to accelerate our market leading presence in our core garden and catering categories through greater product innovation and access to resources that come from being a part of a global organisation,” he said.

Both firms will continue to be managed by their current leadership teams.
