Power Knot has appointed WMR Waste Solutions as its exclusive distributor for the UK and Ireland in a bid to address growing regional demand for its range of food waste biodigesters and bin tipping equipment.
Crawley-based WMR has significant experience with commercial, construction and hazardous waste and helps companies recycle, process and dispose of their waste in a responsible and cost-effective manner.
The firm has established a major presence in the UK’s leisure market and has significant experience with holiday parks, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment centres.
Power Knot’s LFC biodigester uses a series of processes to break down biodegradable material using a proprietary mixture of microbes and enzymes, turning it into grey water that can be safely discharged down the drain.
Derek Cornwell, director at WMR Waste Solutions, said the tie-up would enhance the breadth of its offering.
“Many of our foodservice and hospitality customers are eager to divert food waste from downstream processing,” he explained. “By partnering with Power Knot, we can now offer them a proven onsite food waste solution that can be scaled from local restaurants to national hospitality and entertainment businesses.”
Power Knot, which designs, develops and manufactures its products in Silicon Valley, California, offers seven biodigester models that process between 25kg and 1200kg of waste food per day.

As a major contributor to global carbon emissions, food waste is coming under increasing government scrutiny in the UK.
Several initiatives are underway to tackle the £3 billion of food wasted in the foodservice and hospitality sector every year, including the government’s ‘Step Up to the Plate’ symposium on food waste, which encourages organisations to make commitments to measure and reduce their own food waste, as well as the ‘Guardians of Grub’ and ‘Food Waste: Bad Taste’ campaigns developed by WRAP and the Sustainable Restaurant Association, respectively.
