Augmented reality has long been mooted as a tool that restaurants can use to drive customer engagement.
The concept of augmented reality is based around overlaying digital content on the real world via phone or media in order to create an immersive experience.
Experts note that foodservice operators could potentially use the technology to allow diners to scan a menu and watch how their meals are being cooked, or to issue guests with a greeting from the chef when they take their seats at the table.
However, one restaurant in France has apparently taken augmented reality to a new level by using 3D projection software to creatively entertain diners as they wait for their dishes to arrive.
