Whitbread high street steak brand lines up more projects as it builds scale

Whitbread’s contemporary high street steak brand, Bar + Block Steakhouse, is set to open three new restaurants inside the next few months. 

It is poised to open in Bristol on 23 April, followed by the first Northern Ireland site in Belfast on 24 April and Reading in mid-2019, taking the portfolio up to eleven.

The new sites will follow Bar + Block’s all-day trading format – open for breakfast and brunch through to lunch and dinner.

The menu puts the spotlight on high quality steaks in a variety of cuts, hand cut to order, at an accessible price point with the signature ‘Butcher’s Block’ offering limited time only rotating steak specials.

Each will feature contemporary interiors by Harrison Design with the brand’s trademark open kitchen and copper feature bar as well as decorative finishing touches, such as the Bar + Block neon cow.

Nathalie Pomroy, chief marketing officer at Whitbread Restaurants, said: “We are delighted to be opening our first site in Northern Ireland and to be celebrating Bar + Block venues reaching double digits. This is a great milestone for the brand, and we look forward to further growth throughout the year.”

All Bar + Block steakhouses are located next to existing and new Premier Inn hotels.
