Whitbread is targeting “rapid expansion” for its Bar + Block Steakhouse concept as it prepares to open its 12 site, in Sutton.

The contemporary steak brand said the branch would be one of its largest yet when it begins trading on 1 November.

The 589 square metre restaurant will serve 229 covers from breakfast through to dinner, with an emphasis on delivering high quality steaks at high street prices.

Whitbread has been busy growing the brand in 2019 as it looks to enlarge its restaurant estate. Projects have already been completed in Wimbledon, Belfast, Bristol and Reading, taking the brand into double figures for the first time.

Sutton will feature the modern interior design which it is becoming known for, along with an expansive bar, butcher’s table and open kitchen.

Joanna Spencer, senior brand and marketing manager at Whitbread Restaurants, said: “The Bar + Block Steakhouse brand is undergoing rapid expansion and is set for considerable growth in 2020. Our newest Sutton site will be our 12th location. We are delighted to be contributing to the local food and drink scene, providing a new all-day destination restaurant for the community.”

Signature dishes include rotating steak specials from the Butcher’s Block, grazing plates and handmade burgers prepared on-site using prime beef.

Whitbread is the owner of hotel chain Premier Inn as well as restaurant brands, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Table Table and Whitbread Inns.
