Warewashing manufacturer Winterhalter has been accepted onto The Carbon Trust’s ‘Accredited Supplier’ scheme, which includes a listing within its Green Directory for buyers.
Winterhalter is the first specialist catering equipment manufacturer to become an Accredited Supplier, although on-demand ventilation supplier Quintex is also enrolled on the scheme.
During the course of the accreditation process, the Carbon Trust interviewed key Winterhalter personnel, assessed the company’s energy management systems and reviewed a number of case studies. As part of due diligence, the Trust also gathered independent customer feedback.
Paul Crowley, Winterhalter’s marketing development manager, said the Carbon Trust status underlines its credibility.
“This is a crowded market place, and some manufacturers’ claims and counter claims can be very confusing for buyers. We expect more foodservice equipment companies to join the Carbon Trust’s programme: it is designed to make it easy to find independently validated, quality suppliers of efficient equipment and services.”
As well as endorsing a company’s green credentials, the scheme aims to recognise expertise and customer service.
The Carbon Trust noted Winterhalter’s IRT (intelligent resource technology) programme, which is designed to minimise its machines’ use of energy, water and chemicals, as well as the company’s comprehensive customer support, including service, advice and training.
A Carbon Trust spokesperson said: “Winterhalter met the criteria set by the Carbon Trust to be accredited for delivering high quality, energy efficient catering equipment systems.”
