Iconic UK brand Harry Ramsden is taking its offering to Asia after inking a deal with leisure operator Genting.

The company will open a branch at the exclusive Resorts World Genting, Genting Highlands, which is perched on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali and attracted 26 million visitors last year.

Trading as ‘The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden’, the concept was created specially for Resorts World and is designed to embody all that is loved by the British when it comes to a traditional English pub experience.

Guests will be offered an authentic taste of Britain in a setting where the heritage and provenance of Britain’s longest established restaurant brand will be celebrated both in the décor and on the plate.

The outlet also features a separate Harry Ramsden takeaway counter, which will serve freshly cooked fish & chips to customers enjoying a stroll along the Resort’s HighLine boulevard.

Tom Crowley, CEO at Harry Ramsden, said the launch underscores the brand’s international ambitions.

“The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden will particularly thrill local Malaysian and international guests looking for a real English pub experience. At Resorts World, we’re offering a fantastically classic British pub menu, bursting with tasty dishes including our world-famous fish and chips and served in surroundings which symbolise everything that is great about both Britain and Harry Ramsden.”

Dato’ Edward Holloway, executive vice president of leisure and hospitality of Resorts World Genting said: “Resorts World Genting attracts visitors from all over Asia and we have introduced many international brands here at SkyAvenue. When we thought of fish & chips from the UK, we thought of Harry Ramsden. We very quickly communicated with them to strike a deal to open The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden. We are proud to say that this is the first and only fish & chips shop of its kind in Resorts World Genting and Malaysia.”
