The owner of London’s iconic The Wolseley restaurant is planning to launch other sites under the brand across the UK, as well as in the Middle East and Asia, as the group looks to more than double its estate.
Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Thai-based hotel group Minor International PCL, which owns The Wolseley, a favourite among celebrities and movers and shakers of the business world, has revealed that he sees opportunities for Wolseley restaurants to launch in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai, as well as London’s financial district, Bloomberg reports.
The second Wolseley restaurant will open in the City of London’s King William Street this year, with further sites planned for Dubai and Saudi Arabia soon after that, he said.
The group is planning to launch at least 10 restaurants under The Wolseley brand, with Mr Rajakarier further suggesting that the group could take its total number of sites to 20 or more over the next five years, more than doubling its current estate.
There are also plans to launch sites under the group’s more relaxed Café Wolseley brand in the Middle East and China, as well as in cities in the UK, including Birmingham and Manchester.
The group is also expected to launch its seafood-focused restaurant Manzi’s in Soho in the spring.
