Supplier that leases cold rooms to operators sets up trade-only distribution business

A new trade-only cold store distributor has been launched in the UK and it claims one of its main USPs is that it can supply modular cold rooms with less than a week’s notice due to the large volume of stock it holds.

Cold Store Distribution has been set up to serve the needs of trade clients seeking Italian-built Misa cold rooms and will offer a pre-set range of 14 optimum sizes, as well as options for monoblock and split-system refrigeration units and shelving.

The business is a subsidiary of Cold Store Rentals and will be run by Kevin Raworth, who has spent more than 35 years in the refrigeration sector.

Cold Store Distribution will be able to supply modular cold rooms within five days of orders being placed as it carries a high level of stock at its warehouse in Hampshire. The company claims “speed of delivery” will be a key competitive advantage as it seeks to establish itself in the market.

Unlike its parent company, which specialises in both leasing long and medium-term rental and hire of cold rooms to the end user, Cold Store Distribution will sell purely to trade only, with a primary target market of refrigeration and catering equipment companies. It is the sole UK- and Ireland-based distributor of the Misa cold rooms range.

“Misa is a respected brand wholly owned by Epta Group and is recognised for the quality of its build, its proactive approach and the many benefits and positive features which are the hallmarks of their equipment,” said Mr Raworth.

He added that one of the main challenges faced by the trade is the length of time it takes from placing an order to delivery and installation. Cold Store Distribution promises to deliver its cold rooms within five working days to anywhere in the UK. Presently the company is exploring a partnership with a potential sub-contractor, which it is hoped will operate the CSD brand in Northern Ireland, opening up more of the domestic market.

“An excellent quality of service, a speedy delivery and a professional installation are what matters most to businesses that need a cold store solution, quickly and with a minimum of fuss. We are able to offer a free site survey on behalf of distributors, visiting the end-user client to make sure that the cold room is of the appropriate size and will be situated in a location which is suitable to take the facility. We are also able to assess any access issues, which sometimes can be a problem, as well as providing a quote to the distributor for delivery and installation,” Mr Raworth commented.

Cold Store Distribution says its offering can be tailored to customers’ needs, meaning that it can just supply the cold room or provide a complete service including survey and on-site installation. The Misa product is supplied with a 12-month warranty and the company will also hold spare parts in stock.
