A first-of-its-kind machine that can deliver three different types of ice cream and four flavours of milkshake was yesterday crowned the most innovative catering equipment product at Hotelympia.
Carpigiani’s ‘Multiple Choice’ system, which is officially being launched at the show and is now available to UK buyers, saw off competition from an incredibly strong shortlist to land the much-coveted 2016 catering equipment innovation award.
Capable of dispensing up to 400 cones of soft ice cream or 250 milkshakes per hour, the unit’s dry filling system gives the option of preparing the mix directly in the hopper by combining water with dry mix to enable optimum consistency.
With a self-pasteurisation system fitted as standard, the Multiple Choice requires a complete deep clean just once every six weeks, while the space-saving combination of ice cream and milkshake applications in one footprint has already captured the interest of leading QSRs.
Carpigiani was announced as the winner on The Stage yesterday afternoon after a day of Dragons’ Den-style pitching involving the seven catering equipment finalists, which had previously been whittled down from more than 70 entries.
Judges then viewed each product up close before reaching their decision. The quality of innovation on show meant that picking a winner from the seven finalists on offer was the most difficult yet.
The finalists were the De Manincor Total Control System, the Ovention Matchbox 360-12, the Frymaster FilterQuick 2FQE3OU, the MKN SpaceCombi Magic Pilot, the Pneu-Therm CCP Comfort Combi Plate and the PT Climate Plus by Winterhalter.
